There are ruins of a small deserted farmstead or village at Appletree Worth with buildings that should be explored with great caution for the collapsed walls are unstable and the ground is rocky and slippery.

In the foreground of the image can be seen the old stepping stones and site of a later ford crossing.

This old Ordnance Survey map shows Appletree Worth in 1890. The layout of the former buildings can be seen, together with stepping stones across the river, next to which a ford was later added, and a limekiln which was out of use by 1915.

This collapsed structure seen opposite the ruins, up the bank on the other side of the beck could be the old lime kiln shown on the map. It is difficult to make out and looks suspiciously like stone brickwork but could be a natural rock formation.
